We Are Now The Award-Nominated Spud Gun Studios!

A collage of images from Spud Gun Studios and Mashed cartoons, celebrating the studio's five award nominations in the TellyCast Digital Video Awards 2025.

TellyCast – the leading TV industry news podcast – has announced the nominees for the inaugural TellyCast Digital Video Awards. Guess which animation studio has been shortlisted in five categories and couldn’t be happier about it… yep, us!

This is the first time we’ve been nominated for an award as a studio, which we are obviously thrilled about. The fact we have five nominations in total has sent our joy into overdrive!

Because it’s easier for you to read (and we just like reminding ourselves of the categories we’ve been shortlisted in) here are our five award noms in handy bullet point form:

  • Social Video Channel of the Year – Independent Studio - Mashed

  • Digital Original Format - Comedy & Entertainment - The Donkey Kong Experience

  • Comedy Channel - Mashed

  • Digital Commercial or Single Branded Video - Baldur’s Gate 3: Christmas Gift

  • Low Budget Production - There's Something About Amy (Parts 4&5)

Spud Gun Studios’ own Tom Payne and Tom Jenkins will be attending the awards ceremony in London, this June, representing the whole team and the 40+ freelancers that have worked across these award-nominated projects.

"These award nominations are a real testament to the work that every member of the team puts in on a daily basis to create stories and characters that truly resonate with a digital audience,” Payne said, after the shortlist was announced. “In an ever-growing digital landscape that's becoming even more fragmented and difficult to cut through and maintain dedicated audiences, it's amazing to see animation really holding its own against some of the biggest names in digital publishing."

On the topic of those big names – it’s a veritable who’s who of UK-based digital video production. You should check out the full Digital Video Awards 2025 shortlist to see all of the amazing things happening in social video entertainment right now.

A massive congratulations to Justin Crosby and TellyCast for pulling this together and a huge thanks to Channel 4, Larian Studios and everyone else that has been involved in any Spud Gun Studios production over the past year.

Now… fingers crossed we get to bring at least one trophy back to the office...
